crown & glory | "wash" day 8.14

i took my busted roller set from last week and transformed it into something halfway decent (praise Him)!
since my hair and scalp were still thoroughly clean from the clay detox, i didn't rewash.

i rolled my dry hair on orange perm rods using jane carter wrap & roll foam.

airdried for three hours and unrolled to reveal shirley temple-esque curls.
sidebar: did anyone else go to the salon to have these things burned into your hair with a pressing comb and then a curling iron as a kid? i feel like i've been bamboozled... this was so much easier and heat-free!

i shouldn't have but i separated the curls some to loosen them up a bit since nobody was paying shirley temple to sport these things at age 26. for good reason.

i actually liked the separated curls a lot more but still wanted a more natural-looking curl, so i pincurled in large sections (8-10, i believe) overnight.

voila!

pincurling will definitely be my method of choice for set preservation at this point (thanks for the tips, Divachyk and Ebony!), so I am going to try out lots of different pincurl sizes in the near future.

treating my hair as my crown and glory

Your perm rod set is on point. Although you would make a beautiful brown Shirley Temple, dimples and all, I like it better after you separated the curls :)

Much better post-Shirley Temple, as adorable as she is XD. Very cute, and healthy for your hair.

Your hair turned out cute. I still have my perm rods hiding in my closet and collecting dust. I might have to dig them out. LOL

Thank you! I need to use them again!

Sooooo cute! And so smooth! Lmbo @ nobody paying Shirley to do it at 26! So funny, my girl calls them "Easter curls" and gets mad whenever she sees grown women rocking them. I still have a bunch of perm rods and in between installs I plan to try them out to blend my two textures. I love the length you have even after curling. You got really good results girl!

Sidebar: What mascara do you use? I totally zoomed in on your lashes in the last pic...(stalker much?!!!)

Easter curls! Lmao! I love that! I think it looks super crazy for grown women to wear, too!
And I used Benefit They're Real! It is AMAZING, but not natural or organic, so I ended up leaving it at home since I am making that shift. But I would still highly recommend it!

OMG! Your curls are so soft and pretty! I need to know more about this clay detox....

It is awesome! So I mixed a couple tablespoons of bentonite clay with about a cup of water and applied it all over my scalp and hair. I covered my head with a cap and left it in about 20 minutes and rinsed. Your hair just comes out soooooo clarified - it's crazy!

I wonder if I can get that overseas! You've got me interested!

It's sometimes called Aztec Healing Clay as well!
