crown & glory: wash day 8.10 [fail]

detoxed hair and scalp with bentonite clay (a few tablespoons of clay and about a cup of water). note: i purchased mine from mom's organic market!

deep conditioned with a mix of coconut and argan oils. note: will switch to avocado oil for the next wash.

used a bit of tresemme naturals nourishing moisture conditioner as a leave-in to band overnight.

after airdrying for around 24 hours, i set my hair on velcro rollers and rolled upwards using jane carter wrap & roll.

after airdrying for around three hours, i unrolled (MUCH, MUCH easier since i rolled upward this time!) and wrapped my hair for bed using argan oil.

in the morning, i was not amused....

i really have to figure out how to maintain these dang roller sets!

in pursuit of:
treating my hair as my crown and glory (less harmful chemicals + no buns even though my hair looked a hot mess...)
reducing my carbon footprint (less time in the shower + no electricity for hair drying + less commercial hair products = less chemicals down the drain)

how was your wash day [hopefully better than mine!]?

I have not tried clay on my hair before, but I heard good things about it.

Pin curls or bantu knots is how I preserve curls? I also don't unravel the curls too much on wash day because that's a sure way for them to flop quickly.

I loved the clay! It works so, so well. :)

Yes! Next time will definitely be pin curls - bantu knots create a different kind of curl in my hair and don't work out to mirror the roller set curls :(. I did buy some new pins for pin curling today. I am just going to rod it and try again next week or so.

K. Rather than pin curling from the ends to the roots, I start at the root. I twirl the hair around my finger. I gently remove my finger and pin down the curl. Hope that makes sense.

Lmao @ your "I was not amused" face! I pin curl my hair as @Relaxed Thairapy suggested. Although I'm rocking weave right now, it works the same - I also pin curl before working out as well to help the style last.

Oh and rolling upwards literally changed my life!

Yes, that definitely makes sense! I usually pin curl from the ends up, so I will definitely try it that way as well. Thanks!!!

I am about to get to that point, too! I have to admit that this actually WAS a lot of work for this sad-looking ponytail! Lol!

I'm STILL not amused!!!! Lol. I was so mad!
I am definitely going to try that method.
And omg... I was always nervous about rolling upward and getting crazy Dolly Parton hair, so I am super pleased that that is not the case. And the rollers came out sooooooo much easier.

Fail? Hmm not! If only I could get my edges LAID like that with a roller set!

Thanks for sharing your #WashDayExperience chica!
