make a habit, break a habit link-up #6

excuse me, february, but how are you here?
2015 is over 1/12 done already. i just cannot.
last month wasn't THE best in terms of my habits, but i did make progress on everything i set out to do.
this month is all about prepping my body for china next month. with a permanent foot injury, i need to make sure i really get back into the groove with stretching and rebuilding my strength. we're going to be doing A LOT of walking and no great wall is going to conquer me!

last month
make a habit: complete a fast!
this didn't happen :(. i will try this again another time.

make a habit: yoga every week!
i missed a week.

break a habit: cussing/cursing/swearing.
much, much better. i have gone FULL days without doing it at all, and when i do, it's 3-4 words. this makes me sound like a heathen basking in mediocrity but this is amazing progress for me!

this month
make a habit: take the bus less!
i am only giving myself a pass to take the bus twice per week. i want to build up my walking strength, especially because i now have the orthotics i need!

make a habit: yoga everyday!
i'm kicking it up and making it a permanent part of my morning or evening routine. the longest i've done it daily is two weeks, and i want it to last forever!

break a habit: cussing/cursing/swearing.
would love to end february having broken this!

what habits are you making and breaking this month?
link up below with lauren and i between now and february 7 at 11:55 pm.
the link-up will go live on the first monday of every month to share goals and progress!

how it works: 1) link up your post on what habits you want to make or break and progress you've made towards last month's. (link directly to your habit post! that means no homepages or unrelated posts - please and thank you!) 2) make new friends! visit at least two other Habit Makers and Breakers and give them some love! 3) include our snazzy button below or link back to your hosts in your post so other people can join in on the fun. (don't forget to follow us as well so you don't miss out on any new and exciting habit making or breaking news!)

I found you on Nourishing Joy. What a great project! I need this in my life right now. Hopefully you'll bee hearing back from me with my link up post. I'm assuming you meant February 11?

Hahaha! I know what you mean. I will send you some rallying spirit! I used to cuss vehemently, and it has been a process, but I think having a more positive attitude and wanting to receive what I exude has helped tremendously.

Thank you! Feel free to link up!
And thank you so much for the catch. It is actually February 7. We try to wrap up the link-up when there are 21 days left in the month since that is (scientifically) how long it takes to create a habit!

Cursing is such a tough one, sometimes it's just needed LOL, good luck with your goals for February. I'm also starting yoga in two weeks (hot yoga) specifically and can't wait.

Going to China is GREAT motivation to build your habit of walking more! We went to Europe last summer with shoes that I hadn't quite broken in yet. Needless to say, it was a very rough first week. It got better after that though! Hopefully you're walking in the shoes you are bringing so you won't make my mistake!

Good luck with the swearing habit - very difficult one to break! I also swear - a lot! Not something to be proud of really but don't know, it's just how we talk!

How long are you going to be in China for? Sounds great! But yes lots of walking.... let's hope that wall don't break you!

Thank you so much!
And hot yoga will.change.your.life.
I LOVE hot yoga! And I would totally go if I could afford it. This student budget is the struggle life.

That is SO smart! I haven't been wearing those particular shoes, but I will definitely start to wear them ASAP! Thanks for the advice :)

I totally understand. I have been a longtime "swearer," so the transition is NOT easy!
I will be in China for 10 days, and I determined to make it work!

This month as you know I'm trying not to hit the snooze button on my alarm and found your blog post with tips on how to do it really useful, thank you!! I am so trying to do yoga too, do you go for classes? I've bought a DVD to use at home, but yet to take the wrapping off, lol! I will try this week! Good luck with Feb (I cannot believe we're 1/12 down too, eek!)!

Thank you!
I did go to classes when I first began, and I go from time to time. I don't tend to like the DVDs - I prefer letting my body determine my next position and sometimes I find the DVDs move on too quickly. I do like class, though, because I get to absorb the energy of everyone else in the room! But I just don't have time to go as often as I would like.
